Update september

Good Morning,

Thanks to all who were in attendance at this past Sunday’s shared service and lunch with the West Vancouver Presbyterians. What a lovely way to end another summer of shared services! I know how much our congregation has appreciated the opportunity to build friendships and fellowship with our Presbyterian neighbours throughout the summer. St. David’s Worship and Music team will continue to explore ways that we can continue to engage with their congregation throughout the year (extending invitations for them to join us in special services, etc.)

As I shared during Sunday’s service, Michael and Leanne both remain off work and focused on their respective recoveries. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this time. We will learn more about their expected return dates later in September and will continue to keep everyone updated. At this point we do know that Michael will not be ready to return before the end of September. While his leadership during our services will be missed, please see below for a summary of the arrangements for our September services in his absence.
September 10th – This will be a music-centered service entitled ‘A History of Hymns.’ Nicole will lead the congregation in an exploration of the historical and cultural context of some of our favourite hymns. This promises to be an interesting (and melodic) look at the musical element of Christian worship – from the beginning of our religion right up to modern day. Please note that as this will be a music-centered service, no sermon will be delivered.
September 17th – Congregation member and Vancouver School of Theology student, Vince Campbell, will deliver the sermon for this service.
September 24th – Dal McCrindle, who many will remember from his leadership of past services at our church, will return to St. David’s to lead us in worship.
I look forward to connecting with you all during these services. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the above.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me if you have any general comments/ suggestions/ requests regarding Worship and Music at St David’s.

Sincerely,

Heather Atkinson
